Monique Rainford, MD, MBA — Founder, CEO & Principal Consultant
Dr. Monique Rainford, MD, MBA is a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist, maternal health expert, author, speaker, healthcare executive, and consultant with more than 20 years of clinical experience. She is the Founder, CEO, and Principal Consultant of WWELL Inc., CEO and Co-Founder of Enrich Health, LLC, and an Assistant Professor at Yale School of Medicine.
Dr. Rainford is an award-winning graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard Medical School. She earned her MBA from the Yale School of Management in 2024 and was named one of Poets&Quants’ Best & Brightest Executive MBAs.
An accomplished author of three books, Dr. Rainford is the author of Pregnant While Black: Advancing Justice for Maternal Health in America. She also served for six years as a women’s health columnist for a major newspaper. Her writing and commentary focus on maternal health, women’s health, health equity, and the health disparities experienced by Black women.
Dr. Rainford is an experienced public speaker and media commentator. Her television appearances include Meet the Press Reports, FOX 5 DC, ABC2 Baltimore, CBS Baltimore, and News 8 (WTNH). She delivered the TEDx talk America’s Maternal Nightmare, addressing the maternal health crisis in the United States. She has also been interviewed, quoted, or contributed writing and expert commentary to major media and health outlets including CNN, Forbes, BET, Cosmopolitan, HealthCentral, The Baltimore Sun, and the Hartford Courant, among others.
Her consulting clients have included startups such as Athena Club and Diet ID, as well as Fortune 500 medical device, pharmaceutical, and diagnostic companies. Through WWELL Inc., Dr. Rainford provides subject-matter expertise, strategic consulting, and education in women’s health, maternal health, health equity, and the delivery of equitable, patient-centered healthcare.
